Regular Season Round 7: Guimar - Alcala 73-62

There was a surprise result when twelfth ranked Guimar (3-3) defeated at home much higher ranked Alcala (5-2) 73-62 on Sunday. They outrebounded Alcala 43-30 including 30 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for forward Javier Herreros (198-94) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds. American forward Sean Harris (201-89, college: Utah St.) helped adding 13 points and 13 rebounds. Four Guimar players scored in double figures. At the losing side forward Carlos Unanue (193-0) responded with 14 points and power forward Alvaro Biersack (198-95) scored 12 points and 6 rebounds. Alcala's coach Angel Diaz rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Guimar moved-up to eighth place in Group B. Loser Alcala keeps the second position with two games lost. Guimar will meet Alcobendas (#10) on the road in the next round. Alcala will play against Guadalajara (#5) and hope to secure a win.
