Regular Season Round 12: Kyiv Basket - Ternopil-TNEU 85-80 OT

Tenth-ranked Ternopil-TNEU (3-9) made lots of trouble for fourth ranked Kyiv Basket (8-3) on Friday. Kyiv Basket managed to secure only five-point victory 85-80. However their fans expected much easier game. Ternopil-TNEU was trailing by 9 points at halftime but managed to get 6-point lead after three quarters before a 23-17 charge of Kyiv Basket, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 14-9. Kyiv Basket dominated on the defensive end, holding Ternopil-TNEU to just 7 points in second quarter. They made 23-of-29 free shots (79.3 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Avery Woodson (188-93, college: Butler) who helped to win the game recording 21 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import forward JyLan Washington (206-97, college: Tennessee St.) who added 14 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Kyiv Basket's coach Ainars Bagatskis allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. The best for the losing side was Montenegrin Vladimir Dasic (207-88, agency: Interperformances) with 21 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and swingman Maksym Lutsenko (191-93, agency: BIG) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. Four Ternopil-TNEU players scored in double figures. Kyiv Basket have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. Loser Ternopil-TNEU keeps the tenth position with nine games lost. They share it with Mykolaiv. Kyiv Basket will meet Odessa (#9) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Ternopil-TNEU will play against Khimik in Yuzhny and hope to secure a win.
