Date: November 5, 2021
Everything went according to plan when top-ranked Saint Chamond (4-0) outplayed on the road bottom-ranked SPO Rouen (0-4) 96-72 on Friday. Saint Chamond made 18-of-20 free shots (90.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The winners were led by center Mathieu Boyer (208-95) who scored that evening 19 points and 6 rebounds and Jonathan Hoyaux (194-88) supported him with 16 points and 6 rebounds. Even 17 points and 5 rebounds by Congolese power forward Earvine Bassoumba (205-96) did not help to save the game for SPO Rouen. Serbian forward Djordje Simeunovic (200-95, agency: 011 Sports) added 13 points and 7 assists for lost side. Five Saint Chamond and four SPO Rouen players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Saint Chamond have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 4-0 record having 87 victories less than leader Blois. Loser SPO Rouen still closes the standings with four games lost. They share the position with Boulazac. Saint Chamond will meet at home Denain Voltaire (#13) in the next round which should be another easy win for them. SPO Rouen will play against Nantes (#11) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
