Regular Season Round 10: Challans - Poitiers 80-81

Very expected game when 11th ranked Vendee Challans (3-7) was edged at home by third ranked Poitiers (7-3) 81-80 on Friday. Poitiers looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American swingman Marcus Relphorde (198-88, college: Colorado) scored 21 points and 8 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Croatian Lovro Mazalin (204-97) chipped in 16 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. Poitiers' coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. At the losing side Romain Dardaine (200-88) responded with 22 points and 9 rebounds and naturalized Guyanese Mike Joseph (203-94) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws). Four Vendee Challans players scored in double figures. Poitiers have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position in Group A with 7-3 record behind leader Caen, which they share with Toulouse. Loser Vendee Challans dropped to the twelfth place with seven games lost. Poitiers will meet at home league's second-placed Rueil in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Vendee Challans will play against Lorient (#5) and hope to secure a win.
