Regular Season Round 5: Psychiko - Tritonas S. 95-94

The most exciting game of round 5 in the A2 took place in Athens. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 5th ranked Tritonas S. (2-2) to third ranked Psychiko (4-1) 95-94 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Tritonas S.. Strangely Tritonas S. outrebounded Psychiko 53-41 including 41 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. 31 personal fouls committed by Tritonas S. helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Guard Christos Iordanou (196-98) stepped up and scored 25 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and forward Nikolaos Papanikolaou (209-85) chipped in 12 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international center Loukas Mavrokefalidis (207-84, agency: Network Sports International) responded with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 20 rebounds and point guard Apollonas Tsochlas (189-83) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 assists. Four Psychiko and five Tritonas S. players scored in double figures. Psychiko moved-up to second place, which they share with Enosi Kavalas. Tritonas S. at the other side dropped to the seventh position with two games lost. They share it with Marousi and Panerythraikos. Psychiko is looking forward to face bottom-ranked Napfliou (#15) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Tritonas S.'s supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Athens Amyntas D..
