Everything could happen in Cork at the game between two tied teams. Both fourth ranked Killorglin and 5th ranked Neptune had identical 1-2 record. But Neptune was not able to use a home court advantage and was edged by the opponent from 90-89 on Saturday night. Killorglin shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 53.8 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Allan Thomas (193-90, college: Georgetown, KY) who helped to win the game recording 32 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and Swedish forward Simon Fransis (201, college: Webber) who added 26 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. At the losing side Spanish power forward Nil Sabata (205-96) responded with 21 points and 9 rebounds and the former international guard Roy Downey (191, college: Lindsey Wilson) scored 20 points and 6 assists. Five Neptune players scored in double figures. Neptune's coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Killorglin maintains fourth position with 2-2 record, which they share with UCD Marian and Belfast Star. Loser Neptune keeps the fifth place with three games lost. Killorglin will meet UCD Marian (#4) in the next round. Neptune will play against Templeogue and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
