Rather predictable result when eighth ranked Lucca (3-3) defeated at home 12th ranked Empoli (1-5) 83-71 on Saturday. Lucca looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The best player for the winners was Polish center Agnieszka Kaczmarczyk (188-89) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. American point guard Blake Dietrick (178-93, college: Princeton, agency: LBM Management) chipped in 9 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. Lucca's coach Luca Andreoli used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Zada Williams (188-96, college: Florida) who recorded a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds and her fellow American import guard Aliyah Jeune (185-97, college: USC) added 15 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Four Empoli players scored in double figures. Lucca moved-up to sixth place, which they share with San Giovanni and San Martino. Loser Empoli dropped to the thirteenth position with five games lost. They share it with Faenza. Lucca will meet San Giovanni (#6) in the next round. Empoli will play against Faenza (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
