Rather predictable result when second ranked Alcala (6-2) rolled over at home 5th ranked Guadalajara (4-4) 104-81 on Saturday. Alcala made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. The winners were led by power forward Alvaro Biersack (198-95) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds and guard Oscar Mendez (182-0) supported him with 14 points and 5 assists. Even a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds by Senegalese center Gaston Diedhiouf (208-93, college: Minnesota) did not help to save the game for Guadalajara. Swedish guard John Thornblom (194-0) added 10 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists for the guests. Five Alcala and four Guadalajara players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Alcala maintains second position in Group B with 6-2 record having just two point less than leader Barca 2. Loser Guadalajara dropped to the sixth place with four games lost. They share the position with 4 other teams. Alcala will meet Estudiantes B (#16) in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Guadalajara will play against Alcobendas (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
