Regular Season Round 6: Faenza - Venezia 38-95

Very expected game when 13th ranked Faenza (1-5) was crushed at home by fourth ranked Venezia (5-1) 95-38 on Saturday. Venezia dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Faenza's 22. Venezia forced 25 Faenza turnovers and outrebounded them 44-30 including 31 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was Senegalese-Spanish center Astou Ndour (198-94) who had a double-double by scoring 27 points and 16 rebounds. American-Serbian guard Yvonne Anderson (170-90, college: Texas) chipped in 25 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Venezia's coach Massimo Romano felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was Nigerian forward Pallas Kunaiyi-Akpanah (188-97, college: Northwestern, agency: LBM Management) who recorded 9 points and 11 rebounds and American guard Jori Davis (176-89, college: Indiana) added 2 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with Bologna. Faenza lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the bottom position with five games lost. They share it with Empoli. Venezia will meet Campobasso (#4) on the road in the next round. Faenza will play against Empoli (#13) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
