Regular Season Round 9: Nuernberg - Tuebingen 90-92

The most exciting game of round 9 in the ProA took place in Nuernberg. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 7th ranked Falcons (4-4) to second ranked Walter Tigers (6-2) 92-90 on Sunday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Falcons. Walter Tigers forced 19 Falcons turnovers. Strangely Falcons outrebounded Walter Tigers 38-26 including 26 on the defensive glass. 26 personal fouls committed by Falcons helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American forward Ryan Mikesell (201-96, college: Dayton) who had a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds. Naturalized Croatian Mateo Seric (204-99) chipped in 16 points and 7 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American swingman AJ Davis (206-95, college: UCF) who recorded a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) and the other American import guard Dupree McBrayer (195-96, college: Minnesota) added 19 points respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Walter Tigers have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain second place with 6-2 record behind leader Jena, which they share with Rostock. Falcons at the other side dropped to the tenth position with four games lost. They share it with Bochum. Walter Tigers is looking forward to face bottom-ranked Ehingen/Urspringschule (#17) in Allmendingen in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Falcons will play at home against Seawolves (#3) and are hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
