There was a surprise result when thirteenth ranked Besancon (3-8) defeated higher ranked SOPCC (5-6) in Pont de Cheruy 92-83 on Tuesday. Besancon had a 28-16 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Besancon especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 68.8 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was an exceptional evening for guard Tom Foucault (191-94) who led the winners and scored 23 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists. The former international center Ferdinand Prenom (204-91) accounted for 14 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side. American guard Bakari Evelyn (188-97, college: Iowa, agency: Interperformances) came up with 16 points and Cameroonian guard Frank Tchoubaye (198-92) added 12 points and 6 rebounds respectively for SOPCC in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. SOPCC's coach Dounia Issa tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Besancon moved-up to twelfth place in Group B, which they share with Avignon/Pontet. Loser SOPCC keeps the ninth position with six games lost. Besancon will meet at home higher ranked Andrezieux (#7) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. SOPCC will play against Avignon/Pontet and hope to secure a win.
