Regular Season Round 11: Poitiers - Rueil 88-95

An interesting game for Rueil (9-2) which played road game in Poitiers against 3rd placed Poitiers (7-4). Second ranked Rueil managed to get a 7-point victory 95-88. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Poitiers. Rueil shot the lights out from three sinking 18 long-distance shots on high 52.9 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. It was an exceptional evening for Senegalese-Spanish center Maodo Nguirane (210-93) who led the winners and scored 19 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Swingman Steven Ricard (200-90) accounted for 22 points for the winning side. Four Rueil players scored in double figures. American swingman Marcus Relphorde (198-88, college: Colorado) came up with 32 points and 5 assists and point guard Matteo Legat (191-96) added 17 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) respectively for Poitiers in the defeat. Poitiers' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Rueil maintains second place in Group A with 9-2 record despite having the same number of points like the leader Caen. Loser Poitiers keeps the third position with four games lost. They share it with Toulouse and Lorient. Rueil will meet at home Vitre (#6) in the next round. Poitiers will play against JSA Bordeaux and hope to secure a win and be promoted back to the ProB just one year after relegation.
