Regular Season Round 12: Challans - Angers 77-74

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Etoile Angers (10-2) on the court of twelfth ranked Vendee Challans on Friday night. Visitors were edged by Vendee Challans 77-74. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Etoile Angers. Vendee Challans made 22-of-26 free shots (84.6 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Etoile Angers turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Thibault Desseignet (178-98) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 5 assists and naturalized Guyanese Mike Joseph (203-94) who added 21 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was Moroccan forward Karim Gourari (203-89) with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds and American point guard Akaemji Williams (175-96, college: LSSU) scored 15 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Vendee Challans and five Etoile Angers players scored in double figures. Etoile Angers' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Vendee Challans (4-8) moved-up to eleventh place in Group A, which they share with Dax-Gamarde. Etoile Angers at the other side still keeps top position with two games lost. Vendee Challans is looking forward to face higher ranked Les Sables (#10) in Les Sables-D'Ollone in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Etoile Angers will play at home against the league's second-placed Rueil (#2) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
