There was no surprise in Gries where 15th ranked ASA (1-5) was defeated by eighth ranked Nantes (4-2) 87-73 on Friday. American-Armenian point guard Terry Smith (185-86, college: Mercyhurst) scored 27 points and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the former international Garry Chathuant (195-83) chipped in 16 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American point guard Marquis Wright (185-95, college: Siena) with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists and guard Karlton Dimanche (193-0) scored 12 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Nantes moved-up to second place, which they share with 4 other teams. ASA lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the seventeenth position with five games lost. They share it with Rouen. Nantes will meet at home Tours (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. ASA will play against Sluc Nancy (#4) and hope to win that game.
