The most surprising game was the first loss of undefeated Barca (9-1) in Barcelona on Sunday night. Hosts were defeated by seventh ranked Valencia (6-4) 87-79. It ended at the same time the nine-game winning streak of Barca. 25 personal fouls committed by Barca helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Cuban Jasiel Rivero (206-93) scored 18 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and Montenegrin center Bojan Dubljevic (205-91, agency: BeoBasket) chipped in 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. At the losing side the former international Nikola Mirotic (208-91) responded with 22 points and Greek-American point guard Nick Calathes (196-89, college: Florida) scored 12 points and 7 assists. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Valencia moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Defending champion Barca still keeps top position with one game lost. They share it with Real Madrid. Valencia is looking forward to face Bilbao (#14) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Barca will play against Burgos (#16) and is hoping to win this game.
