Regular Season Round 5: TSU - Kutaisi 73-90

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of TSU (4-1) in Tbilisi on Sunday night. Hosts were defeated by Kutaisi (4-0) 90-73. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of TSU. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The guests trailed by 7 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 90-73. Kutaisi dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to TSU's 34. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Kutaisi made 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was American forward Jarvis Ray (198-90, college: TCU) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. His fellow American import point guard Adrian Bowie (189-89, college: Maryland, agency: BIG) chipped in 17 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Kutaisi's coach Kote Tugushi used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international forward Mikhail Berishvili (204-87) produced 14 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and the former international forward Nika Darbaidze (204-98) added 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for the hosts. Five Kutaisi and four TSU players scored in double figures. Kutaisi have a solid series of four victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader. TSU at the other side dropped to the second place with one game lost. They share the position with Olimpi. Kutaisi are looking forward to face Mega (#6) in Tbilisi in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. TSU will play on the road against Batumi (#7) and is hoping to win this game.
