Regular Season Round 9: TSU - Khimki 68-59
Date: November 14, 2021
Bottom-ranked Khimki (0-8) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 68-59 loss to third ranked TSU (7-1) in Revda. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. TSU outrebounded Khimki 44-28 including a 34-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. They brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. It was a good game for swingman Daniil Aksenov (195-95) who led his team to a victory with 20 points (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). The former international forward Denis Levshin (202-93) contributed with 12 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Point guard Alexander Korchagin (188-88) answered with 11 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and Kazakhstan forward Alexander Zhigulin (205-94) added 11 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Khimki. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for TSU. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Uralmash and Runa Basket. Khimki lost their eighth game in a row. They still close the standings with eight games lost. TSU will play against Univ.Surgut (#4) at home in the next round. Khimki will play against Uralmash (#3) in Yekaterinburg and hopes to get finally their first victory.
