Regular Season Round 9: Lliria - Torrent 96-65

There was a change at the EBA leadership position after last games. Round 9 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Torrent (6-1). They were crushed by second ranked Lliria (6-1) 96-65 on Sunday night. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Torrent. It was a key game for the top position in Group E-A. Lliria made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Torrent 45-24 including a 35-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Lliria looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Torrent's players. Kelvyn Montano stepped up and scored 19 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and center Ruben Ramos (200-94) chipped in 19 points (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Four Lliria players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Mark Hetor (197-1) with 11 points and 7 rebounds and forward Joan Carratala (189-97) scored 8 points and 4 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Lliria keeps a position of Group E-A leader, which they share with defeated Torrent. Torrent will play next round against Godella trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Lliria will try to continue on its current victory against fourth ranked Esportiu on the road.
