Regular Season Round 8: Craiova - Focsani 100-70

Rather predictable result when seventh ranked Craiova (5-3) rolled over at home 11th ranked Focsani (3-5) 100-70 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Craiova. Focsani managed to win fourth quarter 25-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Craiova dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Focsani's 24. Craiova forced 21 Focsani turnovers and outrebounded them 36-22 including 23 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The winners were led by American guard Michael Qualls (197-94, college: Arkansas, agency: Inception Sports) who scored that evening 41 points (!!!) and the other American import guard Troy Franklin (183-89, college: Coppin St.) supported him with 12 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Four Craiova players scored in double figures. Even 23 points by American guard Henri Wade-Chatman (188-92, college: Edinboro) did not help to save the game for Focsani. Russian-Belarusian forward Aliaksandr Pustahvar (201-85) added 17 points and 9 rebounds for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Craiova moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Constanta. Loser Focsani keeps the eleventh position with five games lost. Craiova will meet Ploiesti CSM (#10) on the road in the next round. Focsani will play against Oradea and hope to secure a win.
