Regular Season Round 9: Valladolid - Melilla 68-72

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both eleventh ranked Melilla and 10th ranked Valladolid had identical 4-4 record. But Valladolid was not able to use a home court advantage and lost to the opponent from Melilla 72-68 on Friday night. Belgian center Amaury Gorgemans (212-92) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds for the winners and point guard Adrian Chapela (192-94) chipped in 11 points and 5 assists. The best for the losing side was American center Kavion Pippen (208-96, college: SIU) with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds and the other American import point guard Alec Wintering (183-95, college: Portland) scored 14 points and 6 assists. Five Melilla and four Valladolid players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Melilla (5-4) moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Castello and Acunsa GBC. Loser Valladolid keeps the tenth position with five games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Melilla will meet at home higher ranked Granada (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Valladolid will play against the league's leader Estudiantes (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
