Regular Season Round 15: Ternopil-TNEU - Mykolaiv 85-61
Date: November 19, 2021
Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both tenth ranked Ternopil-TNEU and 11th ranked Mykolaiv had identical 4-10 record. This time Ternopil-TNEU used a home court advantage and smashed the opponent from Mykolaiv 85-61 on Friday night. The game was mostly controlled by Ternopil-TNEU. Mykolaiv managed to win fourth quarter 17-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Ternopil-TNEU forced 19 Mykolaiv turnovers and outrebounded them 43-27 including 30 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a great evening for swingman Maksym Lutsenko (191-93, agency: BIG) who led his team to a victory scoring 22 points. Slovakian forward Marek Dolezaj (208-98, college: Syracuse, agency: Octagon Europe) helped adding 19 points. The best for the losing side was American forward Troy Barnies (201-89, college: Maine) with 11 points and 6 rebounds and naturalized Moldovan Andrei Kalnichenko (201-86) scored 10 points and 5 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ternopil-TNEU (5-10) moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Krivbas and Odessa. Loser Mykolaiv keeps the eleventh position with 11 games lost. Ternopil-TNEU will meet at home Krivbas (#8) in the next round. Mykolaiv will play against Kyiv Basket and hope to secure a win.
