Regular Season Round 10: Hagen-Haspe - Hagen BG 68-83

There was an upset when higher ranked Hagen-Haspe (5-5) was defeated at home by twelfth ranked Hagen BG (3-7) 83-68 on Saturday. Hagen BG made 22-of-28 free shots (78.6 percent) during the game. They also forced 23 Hagen-Haspe turnovers. Strangely Hagen-Haspe outrebounded Hagen BG 41-27 including 26 on the defensive glass. Bulgarian Milen Zahariev (190-92) scored 16 points and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American forward Salathiel Ligons (201-84) chipped in 12 points and 4 assists during the contest. Five Hagen BG players scored in double figures. At the losing side American power forward Daniel Westbrook (208-95, college: Barton, NC) responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 15 rebounds (made all of his eleven free throws !!!) and forward Oscar Luchterhandt (195-91) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Hagen BG maintains twelfth position in West with 3-7 record. Newly promoted Hagen-Haspe dropped to the sixth place with five games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Hagen BG will meet at home higher ranked Bonn 2 (#9) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Hagen-Haspe will play against ETB Miners in Essen and hope to secure a win.
