Regular Season Round 5: TalTech - TTT Riga 62-71

There was no surprise when 11th ranked Estonian TalTech (1-5) was defeated at home by leader Latvian TTT Riga (5-0) 71-62 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 71-62. TTT Riga outrebounded TalTech 48-27 including a 22-10 advantage in offensive rebounds. Lithuanian center Daugile Sarauskaite (196-96) stepped up and scored 9 points and 12 rebounds for the winners and power forward Laura Meldere (190-1) chipped in 7 points and 10 rebounds. Point guard Marie Sepp (168-2) responded with 22 points and 6 steals and point guard Sofia Kosareva (170-98) scored 7 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for TTT Riga. Defending Latvian champion moved-up to second place, which they share with Kibirkstis. Newly promoted TalTech keeps the eleventh position with five games lost. TTT Riga will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. TalTech will play against Siauliu Siauliai (#7) and hope to win that game.
