The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Villeneuve D'Ascq as it allowed them to take a leadership position in Group L. Villeneuve D'Ascq smashed top-ranked Tarbes at home 86-51. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Tarbes. It was a key game for the top position in Group L. They outrebounded Tarbes 47-29 including a 34-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Villeneuve D'Ascq shot the lights out from three nailing 13 long-distance shots on high 54.2 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Tarbes' players. It was a good game for Ivorian center Kariata Diaby (192-95) who led her team to a victory with 8 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward Janelle Salaun (186-1) contributed with 14 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Villeneuve D'Ascq's coach felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Swingman Clementine Samson (181-91) replied with 12 points and 9 rebounds and American swingman Julie Wojta (185-89, college: Green Bay) added 12 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Tarbes. Villeneuve D'Ascq have a solid three-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with defeated Tarbes.
