Regular Season Round 13: Anadolu Efes - Barca 93-95

Tenth-ranked Turkish Efes (6-7) made lots of trouble for second ranked Spanish Barca (11-2) in Istanbul. The visitors from Barcelona managed to secure only two-point victory 95-93. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Efes. They outrebounded Efes 45-26 including a 14-1 advantage in offensive rebounds. Barca players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. Efes were plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of Nikola Mirotic (208-91) who helped to win the game recording 18 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Turkish center Sertac Sanli (213-91) contributed with 24 points (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winners. Serbian point guard Vasilije Micic (196-94, agency: BeoBasket) answered with 26 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and French Adrien Moerman (202-88) added 16 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Efes. Four Barca and five Efes players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Barca. Defending Spanish champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Real Madrid. Defending Turkish champion Efes keep the tenth place with seven games lost. They share the position with Bayern. Barca will play against league's leader Real Madrid at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Efes will play against Bayern Muenchen (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
