Regular Season Round 12: Socuellamos - Tenerife Naut. 70-78

There was a minor upset when 7th ranked Socuellamos (6-6) was defeated at home by ninth ranked Tenerife Naut. (6-6) 78-70 on Saturday. Tenerife Naut. made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was Montenegrin forward Danilo Brnovic (200-0) who scored 21 points and 9 rebounds (went 12 for 12 at the free throw line !!!). Power forward Javier Martinez (200-3) chipped in 16 points and 7 rebounds. Tenerife Naut.'s coach Jorge Montane allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the other side the best for losing team was Canadian point guard Adrian Armstrong (183, college: Concordia) who recorded 13 points and forward Diego Serrano (198-95) added 8 points and 9 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Tenerife Naut. moved-up to sixth place in Group B, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Socuellamos. Tenerife Naut. will meet at home higher ranked Alcala (#3) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Socuellamos will play against La Matanza and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
