There was no surprise when 6th ranked Taranto (5-5) was defeated at home by second ranked Agrigento (8-2) 61-47 on Saturday. Naturalized Argentinian forward Albano Chiarastella (195-85, agency: BIG) fired a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Point guard Alessandro Grande (185-94) chipped in 10 points and 4 assists. Power forward Riziero Ponziani (204-94) produced 6 points and 9 rebounds and Estonian point guard Hugo Erkmaa (194-99) added 12 points respectively for lost side. Taranto's coach Davide Olive rotated ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Agrigento maintains second position in B with 8-2 record behind leader Roseto, which they share with Cremona. Loser Taranto dropped to the eighth place with five games lost. They share the position with Monfalcone. Agrigento will meet Pozzuoli (#9) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Taranto will play against Cassino and hope to secure a win.
