Regular Season Round 9: Apollon P. - PAOK 95-91

No shocking result in a game when eighth ranked Apollon P. (4-4) beat 11th ranked PAOK (2-6) in Patra 95-91 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But PAOK won third quarter 31-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Apollon P. made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. International Georgios Tsalmpouris (216-96, college: Iowa St.) nailed 25 points and 6 assists for the winning side and American forward Orlando Coleman (196-92, college: Texas Southern) accounted for 20 points. American forward David DiLeo (202-97, college: CMU) came up with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds and the other American import guard Jermaine Love (190-89, college: UIS) added 22 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for PAOK in the defeat. Five Apollon P. and four PAOK players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Apollon P. moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Peristeri and Aris. Loser PAOK keeps the eleventh position with six games lost. Apollon P. will meet league's second-placed Olympiacos in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. PAOK's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Thessaloniki Aris.
