There was a minor upset when 6th ranked Peristeri (4-4) was smashed by ninth ranked Aris (4-4) in Thessaloniki 87-68 on Sunday. The game without a history. Aris led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Peristeri's 18 and made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Aris forced 20 Peristeri turnovers. American players dominated the game. Forward James Kelly (202-93, college: Marshall) nailed a double-double by scoring 26 points and 11 rebounds for the winning side and forward Shakur Juiston (201-96, college: Oregon) accounted for 10 points and 5 assists. Aris' coach Ioannis Kastritis used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Point guard Glenn Cosey (183-92, college: EKU) came up with 17 points and 4 assists and forward Terran Petteway (198-92, college: Nebraska) added 11 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Peristeri in the defeat. The victory was the third consecutive win for Aris. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Peristeri and Apollon P. Aris' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Thessaloniki to the arena PAOK.
