Regular Season Round 18: Zaporizhye - Khimik 79-87

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Zaporozhye where 6th ranked Zaporizhye (8-9) was defeated by seventh ranked Khimik (9-9) 87-79 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 46-34 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. American guard Delano Spencer (190-94, college: Tennessee St.) scored 26 points and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import forward Christian Jones (201-93, college: UNLV, agency: BeoBasket) chipped in 15 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was Canadian guard Yasiin Joseph (186, college: Carleton) with 19 points and 6 assists and American guard Daeshon Francis (193-96, college: UTPB) scored 19 points (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!). Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Khimik moved-up to sixth place. Loser Zaporizhye dropped to the seventh position with nine games lost. Khimik will meet bottom-ranked Mykolaiv (#12) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Zaporizhye will play against Cherkasy (#11) and hope to secure a win.
