The biggest surprise took place in Nicosia where host Apoel (7-2) beat league's leader E.N. Paralimni (7-2) 74-62 on Monday evening. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Apoel. E.N. Paralimni managed to win fourth quarter 19-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Apoel dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to E.N. Paralimni's 26. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was American swingman SirDominic Pointer (198-92, college: St.John's) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Nigerian-American forward Emmanuel Omogbo (203-95, college: Colorado St., agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds. Four Apoel players scored in double figures. Apoel's coach Marios Argyrou used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American power forward Austin Burgett (206-93, college: Notre Dame) who recorded a double-double by scoring 22 points and 15 rebounds and Ghanian-American guard Milan Acquaah (190-97, college: CBU) added 12 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists respectively. Apoel have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated E.N. Paralimni. E.N. Paralimni will play next round against Anorthosis trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Apoel will try to continue on its current victory against eleventh ranked Etha in Nicosia.
