Rather expected game in Strovolos where 6th ranked AEL (4-5) was rolled over by third ranked Keravnos (7-2) 101-57 on Monday. The game without a history. Keravnos led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding AEL to just 4 points in second quarter. Keravnos dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to AEL's 30. They outrebounded AEL 48-29 including a 35-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Keravnos looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Guard Deondre Burns (190-97, college: ORU, agency: Haylett Sports) stepped up and scored 28 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and American forward Collin Malcolm (200-97, college: WPU) chipped in 23 points and 9 rebounds. Malcolm is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Keravnos players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American guard Courtney Pigram (185-85, college: ETSU, agency: Interperformances) with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and the former international swingman Iraklis Pittakas (192-84) scored 12 points. AEL's coach Markos Asonitis gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the third consecutive win for Keravnos. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser AEL keeps the sixth place with five games lost. They share the position with Apollon and Anorthosis. Keravnos will meet bottom-ranked ENAD (#12) in the next round which should be another easy win for them. AEL will play against the league's second-placed AEK Larnaca (#2) and hope to secure a win.
