Regular Season Round 15: Vitre - Lorient 73-78

Very significant was Lorient's (#5) 78-73 road victory against 4th placed Vitre in Group A. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Vitre. It was a key game for the second position in Group A. Vitre was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was an exceptional evening for point guard Sebastien Cape (185-93) who led the winners and scored 14 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Naturalized Mali point guard Ibrahim Saounera (179-87) accounted for 12 points for the winning side. Four Lorient players scored in double figures. American-Haitian guard Derric Jean (188-97, college: Louisiana Tech) came up with 22 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals and Romain Gregoire (201-91) added 17 points and 10 rebounds respectively for Vitre in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Lorient (10-5) moved-up to second place in Group A, which they share with Rueil and Poitiers. Vitre at the other side dropped to the fifth position with six games lost. They share it with Toulouse. Lorient will play against league's leader Etoile Angers on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Vitre will play against Les Sables (#10) in Les Sables-D'Ollone and hopes to get back on the winning track.
