Regular Season Round 21: Zaporizhye - Kyiv Basket 70-65

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Kyiv Basket (13-6) against seventh ranked Zaporizhye (10-10) on Friday night. Visiting Kyiv Basket was defeated by Zaporizhye in a tough game in Zaporozhye 65-70. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 25-17. But Kyiv Basket won second period 15-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Zaporizhye won last quarter 22-18. They also forced 19 Kyiv Basket turnovers. It was a good game for Canadian guard Yasiin Joseph (186, college: Carleton) who led his team to a victory with 21 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. American power forward Evan Maxwell (208-95, college: IWU, agency: Players Group) contributed with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Four Zaporizhye players scored in double figures. American point guard Avery Woodson (188-93, college: Butler) answered with 16 points and guard Ilya Tyrtyshnik (190-98, college: St.Cloud St., agency: BIG) added 15 points in the effort for Kyiv Basket. Kyiv Basket's coach Ainars Bagatskis tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Zaporizhye maintains seventh place with 10-10 record. Kyiv Basket at the other side keeps the third position with six games lost. Zaporizhye will play against Ternopil-TNEU (#10) at home in the next round. Kyiv Basket will play against the league's leader Prometey (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
