Regular Season Round 16: Tarbes-Lourdes - Rueil 74-76

The most exciting game of round 16 in the NM1 took place in Tarbes. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 7th ranked Lourdes-Tarbes (8-8) to second ranked Rueil (11-5) 76-74 on Friday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Rueil outrebounded Lourdes-Tarbes 45-34 including a 19-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. Swingman Steven Ricard (200-90) fired 20 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Point guard Warren Racine (188-95) chipped in 10 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Mozambican-American guard Kendal Manuel (194-97, college: Montana, agency: Inception Sports) produced 19 points and center Gaylor Lobela-Nkuna (206-95) added 15 points respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Rueil maintains second position in Group A with 11-5 record having just two points less than leader Caen, which they share with Poitiers. Lourdes-Tarbes at the other side dropped to the tenth place with eight games lost. They share the position with Les Sables. Rueil is looking forward to face Union Rennes (#11) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Lourdes-Tarbes will play against Toulouse and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
