There was an upset when higher ranked Cartagena (6-4) was defeated at home by fourteenth ranked Valencia 2 (2-7) 86-78 on Saturday. Naturalized Argentinian power forward Juan Hierrezuelo (207-0) fired 14 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners. Forward Diego Rivas (198-3) chipped in 15 points. Four Valencia 2 players scored in double figures. American guard Martyce Kimbrough (185-96, college: Findlay, OH) produced 26 points and guard Victor Aguilar (185-98) added 13 points and 5 assists respectively for lost side. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Valencia 2 moved-up to thirteenth place in Silver. Cartagena at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the seventh position with four games lost. Valencia 2 will meet higher ranked Cornella (#4) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Cartagena will play against Real Canoe in Madrid and hope to secure a win.
