There was a minor upset when 8th ranked Taranto (6-7) was defeated on the road by tenth ranked Molfetta (6-8) 92-83 on Sunday. Molfetta looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Swingman Maurizio Tassone (193-90, agency: SLN) fired 19 points and 7 assists for the winners. Center Francesco Infante (204-92) chipped in 21 points and 5 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). Power forward Riziero Ponziani (204-94) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds and swingman Alberto Conti (195-98) added 18 points respectively for lost side. Four Molfetta and five Taranto players scored in double figures. Molfetta moved-up to ninth place in B, which they share with Monfalcone. Loser Taranto dropped to the tenth position with seven games lost. Molfetta will meet higher ranked Ragusa (#5) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Taranto will play against Formia (#16) and hope to secure a win.
