Very predictable result in Trier where eighth ranked Gladiators (8-7) outscored 15th ranked SparkassenStars (6-10) 103-81 on Sunday. They outrebounded SparkassenStars 49-25 including a 35-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. Gladiators looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists comparing to just 18 passes made by SparkassenStars' players. Worth to mention a great performance of Serbian center Radoslav Pekovic (215-94) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 12 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists and point guard Jonas Grof (201-96) who added 12 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists during the contest. At the losing side American guard Tony Hicks (186-94, college: Louisville, agency: GoEmpire Group) responded with 12 points and 6 assists and his fellow American import forward Dominic Green (198-97, college: Washington) scored 13 points and 7 rebounds. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. SparkassenStars' coach gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Gladiators maintains eighth position with 8-7 record, which they share with Paderborn. SparkassenStars lost fifth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the fourteenth place with ten games lost. Gladiators will meet higher ranked Tigers (#3) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
