Regular Season Round 23: Vilkaviskis - Gargzdu 98-71

Very important is a road loss of second ranked Gargzdu (18-5) against fifth ranked Vilkaviskis (12-11) on Thursday night. Visiting Gargzdu was crushed by Vilkaviskis in Vilkaviskis 98-71. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Gargzdu. Vilkaviskis dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Gargzdu's 36. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 29 assists. Rokas Stankevicius (202-95, agency: BIG) orchestrated the victory by scoring 22 points. American guard Grant Lozoya (190-95, college: Pitt St.) contributed with 13 points and 6 assists for the winners. Vilkaviskis' coach Karolis Abramavicius felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Point guard Mindaugas Stasys (179-86) answered with 12 points and 7 assists and center Simas Galdikas (203-87) added 15 points in the effort for Gargzdu. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Vilkaviskis maintains fifth place with 12-11 record, which they share with LSU-Atletas and Vytis. Gargzdu at the other side keeps the second position with five games lost. They share it with Telsiai. Vilkaviskis will play against league's second-placed Telsiai in Telsiu in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Gargzdu will play at home against Vilnius and hopes to get back on the winning track.
