Regular Season Round 15: Nanterre - Pau-Lacq-Orthez 101-77

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Pau-Lacq-Orthez (9-6) against thirteenth ranked JSF Nanterre (6-6) on Saturday night. Visiting Pau-Lacq-Orthez was crushed by JSF Nanterre in Nanterre 101-77. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Pau-Lacq-Orthez. JSF Nanterre dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Pau-Lacq-Orthez's 14 and made 23-of-24 charity shots (95.8 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Pau-Lacq-Orthez 33-18 including a 26-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. JSF Nanterre players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. It was a good game for American guard Nick Johnson (191-92, college: Arizona) who led his team to a victory with 20 points and 9 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). His fellow American import forward Thomas Wimbush (201-93, college: Fairmont St.) contributed with 20 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. JSF Nanterre's coach Pascal Donadieu felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American point guard Brandon Jefferson (175-91, college: MSU Denver) answered with 20 points and naturalized Congolese Giovan Oniangue (196-91) added 16 points in the effort for Pau-Lacq-Orthez. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. JSF Nanterre moved-up to twelfth place. Pau-Lacq-Orthez at the other side dropped to the fourth position with six games lost. They share it with Limoges CSP. JSF Nanterre will play against league's second-placed Monaco at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Pau-Lacq-Orthez will play against Entente Orleans 45 and hopes to get back on the winning track.
