There was no surprise when 13th ranked Zarautz (4-12) was defeated at home by eleventh ranked Valle de Egues (6-10) 79-65 on Sunday. It was a great evening for power forward Javier Lacunza (203-94, college: FAU) who led his team to a victory scoring 24 points and 6 rebounds. Point guard Alex Calvo (180-91) helped adding 20 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. The best for the losing side was Estanislao Andres (185-90) with 13 points and guard Antonio Guerrero (179-1) scored 13 points. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Valle de Egues maintains eleventh place with 6-10 record. Loser Zarautz keeps the thirteenth position with 12 games lost. They share it with Santander and Leioa. Valle de Egues will meet at home Leioa (#14) in the next round. Zarautz will play against Mondragon and hope to secure a win.
