Regular Season Round 18: Antwerp - Aalst 103-95

There was no surprise when 8th ranked Okapi Aalst (4-9) was defeated on the road by second ranked Antwerp Giants (10-5) 103-95 on Sunday. Antwerp Giants outrebounded Okapi Aalst 40-24 including 31 on the defensive glass. American Matt Tiby (203-92, college: Milwaukee) scored 21 points and 7 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and guard Niels Van Den Eynde (179-0, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 19 points and 7 assists during the contest. Antwerp Giants' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was American Shavon Coleman (196-92, college: LSU) with 26 points and 8 rebounds (went 11 for 11 at the free throw line !!!) and Lithuanian guard Paulius Valinskas (191-95) scored 24 points, 7 assists and 4 steals. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Antwerp Giants maintains second position with 10-5 record having just one point less than leader Den Bosch. Okapi Aalst lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with nine games lost. Antwerp Giants will meet at home Limburg United (#7) in the next round where they are favorite. Okapi Aalst will play against Phoenix Brussels and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
