Very expected game when 6th ranked Dresden (1-8) was smashed by second ranked Loewen (8-4) in Erfurt 91-54 on Friday. Loewen dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Dresden's 36. Loewen forced 29 Dresden turnovers and outrebounded them 43-31 including a 31-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was an exceptional evening for Dominykas Pleta (200-4) who led the winners and scored 28 points and 7 rebounds. Thamy Will (194-3) accounted for 15 points and 4 assists for the winning side. Four Loewen players scored in double figures. Julius Bade (200-4) came up with 22 points and center Kurt Donath (198-5) added 4 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Dresden in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Loewen maintains second place in East with 8-4 record having just four point less than leader ALBA Berlin. Loser Dresden keeps the sixth position with eight games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
