There was no surprise when 13th ranked Alicante (5-8) was defeated at home by second ranked Granada (11-3) 83-78 on Saturday. Granada made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American-Liberian guard Thomas Bropleh (196-91, college: Boise St., agency: Duran International) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 5 rebounds and the former international forward Pere Tomas (202-89, agency: Octagon Europe) who added 11 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side Lithuanian forward Rolandas Jakstas (202-92) responded with 16 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and American Gerel Simmons (188-93, college: LMU, agency: Duran International) scored 18 points. Four Granada and five Alicante players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Granada have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 11-3 record having just one point less than leader Estudiantes. Alicante lost third consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth place with eight games lost. They share the position with Girona. Granada will meet at home Caceres (#6) in the next round. Alicante will play against Girona (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
