The game between closely ranked teams ended with fourth ranked French Gazelles' (6-5) road victory over 5th ranked Latvian TTT Riga (5-7) 80-45 on Wednesday. Gazelles dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to TTT Riga's 30. Gazelles forced 26 TTT Riga turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by TTT Riga's players. The winners were led by American forward Haley Peters (190-92, college: Duke) who scored that evening 26 points and 8 rebounds and American-British guard Sydney Wallace (173-93, college: Georgia Tech) supported her with 14 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Four Gazelles players scored in double figures. Even 6 points and 11 rebounds by Lithuanian center Daugile Sarauskaite (196-96) did not help to save the game for TTT Riga. American point guard Jasmine Thomas (175-91, college: Michigan St.) added 13 points. TTT Riga's coach gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Gazelles maintains fourth position in Group A with 6-5 record. Defending Latvian champion TTT Riga keeps the fifth place with seven games lost. Gazelles will meet at home Venezia (#7) in the next round. TTT Riga will play against USK Praha and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
