Regular Season Round 15: M.Rishon - H.Beer Sheva 78-85

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 12th ranked Maccabi Rishon's (3-11) home loss to eleventh ranked Hapoel Beer Sheva (5-8) 78-85 on Thursday. Hapoel Beer Sheva outrebounded Maccabi Rishon 40-28 including 27 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American guard Cody Demps (193-93, college: Sacramento St.) who scored 18 points. His fellow American import center Derek Pardon (203-96, college: Northwestern) chipped in 13 points and 9 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American point guard Maurice Watson (178-93, college: Creighton) who recorded 16 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists and forward Netanel Artzi (197-97) added 18 points and 4 steals respectively. Four Hapoel Beer Sheva and five Maccabi Rishon players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Hapoel Beer Sheva moved-up to ninth place. Maccabi Rishon lost their fourth game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with 11 games lost. Hapoel Beer Sheva will meet at home league's second-placed Bnei Hasharon in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Maccabi Rishon will play against Hapoel Eilat (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
