Sixth-ranked Olomouc Bbal (6-10) made lots of trouble for third ranked Novy Jicin (12-5) on Friday. The visitors from Novy Jicin managed to secure only two-point victory 83-81. However their fans expected easier game. Novy Jicin outrebounded Olomouc Bbal 44-27 including 31 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was the former international center Vaclav Bujnoch (200-93, college: Des Moines A.) who had a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds. Center Jiri Stepanek (203-98) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Five Novy Jicin players scored in double figures. Forward Dominik Zak (201-1) produced 24 points and Moldovan forward Eugeniu Scripcaru (195-83) added 19 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Novy Jicin have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Ostrava. Olomouc Bbal lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with ten games lost. They share it with Loko Plzen and USK Praha B. Novy Jicin is looking forward to face Zlin (#8) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Olomouc Bbal will play against Brno 2 and is hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
