There was an upset when higher ranked Bonn 2 (9-8) was defeated at home by twelfth ranked Hagen-Haspe (7-10) 93-86 on Saturday. Forward Oscar Luchterhandt (195-91) stepped up and scored 23 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and American power forward Daniel Westbrook (208-95, college: Barton, NC) chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds. American-Dutch forward Shaquille Rombley (203, college: LMU) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 14 rebounds and point guard Noah Voelzgen (186-2) scored 14 points and 6 assists. Four Hagen-Haspe and five Bonn 2 players scored in double figures. Bonn 2's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Hagen-Haspe moved-up to eleventh place in West. Loser Bonn 2 keeps the fifth position with eight games lost. They share it with Recklinghausen. Hagen-Haspe will meet at home higher ranked Hamm (#7) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Bonn 2 will play against Hertener Loewen and hope to secure a win.
