Regular Season Round 17: Acunsa GBC - Castello 69-77

There was a surprise result when eleventh ranked Castello (8-7) won against higher ranked Acunsa GBC (8-7) in San Sebastian 77-69 on Sunday. Castello dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Acunsa GBC's 32. American forward Eric Stutz (205-92, college: EKU) nailed 15 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side and point guard Joan Faner (176-90) accounted for 13 points. Forward Ander Martinez (199-95) came up with 19 points and guard Aitor Zubizarreta (190-95, college: Idaho Coll.) added 11 points respectively for Acunsa GBC in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Castello moved-up to eighth place, which they share with defeated Acunsa GBC. Castello will meet Huesca (#17) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Acunsa GBC will play against Almansa (#5) and hope to secure a win and be promoted back to the Liga Endesa just one year after relegation.
