Regular Season Round 17: Coruna - Almansa 79-95

Rather expected game when 10th ranked Coruna (7-7) lost at home to eighth ranked Almansa (9-7) 95-79 on Sunday. Almansa outrebounded Coruna 42-31 including 28 on the defensive glass. American-Dominican Eddy Polanco (190-94, college: SE Louisiana) nailed a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds for the winning side and Haitian-Canadian forward Kevin Bercy (201-94, college: St.Francis X.) accounted for 16 points and 8 rebounds. American forward Nick Ward (203-97, college: Michigan St.) came up with 20 points and 9 rebounds and British forward Ashley Hamilton (201-88, college: LMU) added 14 points respectively for Coruna in the defeat. Four Almansa and five Coruna players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Almansa. They moved-up to fifth place. Coruna lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the eleventh position with seven games lost. They share it with Valladolid. Almansa will meet Acunsa GBC (#9) in the next round. Coruna will play against Caceres and hope to secure a win.
